March 7th. Roaring in like a lion is the incomparable Chet Gardiner. Just a real sweet guy with excellent guitar and professional quality performing. The 14th we're proud to showcase Jared Burns. Jared comes from a long line of musicians out of Atlanta, GA. Come on down and greet this Southern boy! The 21st we're so lucky to catch this guy before he leaves for the great northern parts: Hans Mayer! Hans circles the country with his funny songs and antics, performing mostly for kids, but will have a few adult tricks up his sleeve! Come on down and greet Hans and his lovely wife. On April 4th, we have the adorable Patrick and the Zapatistas! Patrick writes some mean lyrics, and I mean that only in a kind way. He sings with soul and writes some gut-wrenching lyrics. For a kid barely 20, Patrick's quite the up and coming talent. On April 11th we welcome Bryan Conner. Bryan is percussionist for a popular band that opens for bands at Club Congress. For us, he will be trying out some cool originals. Bryan has that Glenn Fry, Timothy B. Schmidt thang going. A really lovely voice and quite a nice guy. April 18th, Pablo & I are happy to bring our music to Bentley's. And on April 25th, the group WomanSong previews their reunion concert coming up some time in '08. Sooo, plenty to see, hear, enjoy. And, oh yeah, EAT! Bentley's has some of the best food and drinks in town. Great stuff served all night. See ya at OM@B's! And if you wish to be considered for a showcase or want to suggest somebody for one, email: linda.rothchild@gmail.com. ~~Linda

Happy 2008!! Bentley's Open Mic continues to attract a variety of talent from all over the country. You won't want to miss this coming Friday January 18th when pro-softball Tucson Heat pitcher, gorgeous Leigh Ann Walker, known now as LeeLee, and her musical partner Jake Willis make their Showcasing debut. LeeLee's voice has the power of a Janis Joplin with the softness and control to melt your heart. Bentley's has featured many female artists over the years. LeeLee's got it, and you'll want to be able to say, " I remember when I first saw her at Bentley's", because I think just like in her softball accomplishments, this young lady will go far. Upcoming Showcasers include the very talented duo of local Tucson guitarists Ken Tucker and James Swafford on January 25th, Ms. Kristi Cunningham on Feb. 1, the incomparable multi-instrumentalist and Kalimba wiz himself, Mark Holdaway on Feb. 15th ( his birthday, by the way! ), and that hot little combo called Water on the Rocks, featuring the beautiful, talented, sexy and dynamic Sally Withers. Head on over and enjoy a free evening of live music. Great food, desserts and beverages served all evening. If you would like to be considered for a showcase, please write linda.rothchild@gmail.com. See you at Open Mic at Bentley's - OM@B's!! ~~ Linda

Oct. 26th. Had a great show last Friday night featuring Chet Gardiner. Tonight we have a first-time Bentley's performer; Patricia Morrison. Classically trained, Patricia has decided to veer out into the world of folk/pop/rock. You can find her work and bio on her myspace page. She found us online and we're glad she did. Upcoming showcasers include Steven Baird, Bill Lackey, the Finnish group, Finn, Guido, and amazing guitarist, Tom Cassidy. Drop us a line or just come on down if you want to learn more about showcasing at Bentley's. This, Tucson's most authentic and original campus coffee house, is open 'til midnight and serves great food and drink all night! See you at Open Mic at Bentley's! OM#B's! `` Linda

June is Here! June 1st featured Linda and Mark showcasing at 9. Songs included a Mark original called "Writing on the Walls" a beautiful song about the petroglyphs of New Mexico and how they are being destroyed, a rich, intense version of Diamonds and Rust by Joan Baez which was a request by Betty Edwards, some resurrected songs Mark and Linda used to do, and a beautiful set on Kalimba by Mark ( master Kalimba player ).
We were happy to welcome Brad & Gail back, newcomer Chad from Chicago who found us through the Weekly, Chet Gardiner and Ann who love the music scene so much down here that they've transferred down from Oakland. Also, Brian O. who moved to Sierrita and who we hadn't seen for about five years! He came back, this time with older daughter, Erin. Emily stayed home. Emily was a thirteen year old when we last we saw her and is now in college! Our Scrabble buddies Nancy and Mary were too engrossed in the entertainment to start a game! Mark and Deb enjoyed the cold Vicchysoise soup and I saw Shanti, Dave and Joshua munching down some yummy fare back by the door. Altogether, a lively, lovely fun night at Bentley's.
June 8th is the last open mic of the season and will feature a special "All Girls Night". Yes, you guys can certainly play. BUT, we want you to put your cheerleading outfits on and cheer for the girls!!--Emphasis will be on some of the talented women who have been gracing the Bentley's Open Mic stage these last several months: Kristi Cunningham, Jasmine Bak, Tanya Snyder, Mary Eiland, and others. We hope the guys will come out and support these wonderful women. Wendy Adams was scheduled as the featured showcaser but injured her neck and shoulder. We wish Wendy a speedy recovery and hope we can look forward to her playing at Bentley's on some future date.
Time allowing and because Bentley's has gone to earlier summer hours, we will have an open jam at the end of the evening.
As this will be the last open mic for a while, come on down and enjoy an evening of friendly folk, live music and wonderful food. Then check this site or the front door for the re-opening later this summer. Thank you for another wonderful year of music at Bentley's! See you all at OM@B's! ~~linda
